Broadhurst police are investigating a case in which a Chinese businessman was attacked by seven men, who tortured and robbed him of money amounting to P109,000 on Saturday at a warehouse in Oriental Plaza, Gaborone.

According to the police the armed robbery incident occurred at around 5pm when the victim, who was in the company of two security guards, was about to leave his business premises. Broadhurst Police Station commander, Superintendent Obusitswe Lokae said on arrival, the masked armed gang tied the trio's hands and covered their mouths threatening them should they scream for help.

He stated that they subsequently stole money amounting to P14,000 that was in his possession, demanded his bank cards and went to swipe goods amounting to P88,000 at a certain shop in the CBD. "The 54-year-old Chinese businessman sustained injuries resulting from the beatings as he initially gave the criminals the wrong ATM card PIN. "They allegedly assaulted him until he disclosed the correct PIN and they went to swipe for goods at the CBD. They were using a silver Honda Fit as their getaway car," Lokae said.
