BPC CEO on the way out

The Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) chief executive, Jacob Raleru is scheduled to leave the parastatal soon, in what authorities say is part of a “transformation exercise” at the troubled utility, Mmegi has learnt.

Raleru, who was appointed substantive CEO in 2010 after acting for a period, led the Corporation through its darkest years, with declining South African power imports, troubles at Morupule B and the suspension of Morupule A leading to fragile power supply.

Yesterday, BPC board chair, Sebetlela Sebetlela told Mmegi that a review of all executive positions was underway, as part of the transformation process within the utility.
