A Zimbabwean couple residing in Oodi is reeling in shock after they found their 14-year-old son hanging from the rafters of their farmhouse on Saturday morning.

On that fateful morning, the couple who works in one of the gardens in the village, allegedly left their teenage boy home as they usually did to do their regular job at the nearby garden. Whilst in the garden, one of their relatives visited the family and upon knocking to no avail, the kin decided to go and look for them at the nearby garden.

Narrating what transpired to The Monitor in an interview, Broadhurst Police Station commander, Superintendent Obusitswe Lokae said while walking towards the garden the visitor was shocked to see the Standard 7 pupil hanging from the rafters at the back of the farmhouse and screamed for help. “The couple heard someone screaming for help, rushed home only to find their son hanging from the rafters and reported the matter to the police. The deceased was doing Standard 7 at one of the local primary schools in Oodi,” he explained. However, Lokae said the cause of the boy's actions is not yet known because he didn't leave behind any message but investigations into the matter are ongoing.
