Bobo Zebe, the man who shot to public attention last year after allegedly calling in a bomb threat in Barclays House, was in court again on Wednesday, this time facing charges of obtaining by false pretences.

Last August, activities near the Government Enclave ground to a halt after a Barclays House employee received a bomb threat allegedly called in by Zebe. The case was later dropped due to lack of evidence.

In his latest appearance, Zebe faced charges of forging a First National Bank of Botswana (FNBB) cheque amounting to P5,000 with the intent to defraud. While Zebe had pleaded not guilty to the charge in his previous appearances in the Extension II Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday he changed his plea to guilty and apologised for wasting the court’s time. “I want to change my plea; I want to reconcile with the bank.  This has been going on for too long.  I want to apologise to this court because this has not been leading us anywhere.  I want to apologise to this court for wasting its time,” he said. Zebe told the court that he now wants to be a good citizen saying he had even apologised to a minister.  He, however, did not mention any names.  “I want to reconcile with everyone I have wronged.  I plead with this court to come up with the best possible solution to sort this out speedily,” he said. The Directorate of Public Prosecutions’s Relentse Mosarwana, told the court that the change of plea meant he would have to go back and possibly change the charges Zebe is facing.  He said he would also have to re-look the summary of evidence that he had already submitted to the court.
