SELEBI-PHIKWE: Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) will hold a rally this weekend in Selebi-Phikwe to explain to the electorate why its members left the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).

The party's mobilisation committee chairman, Kabo Morwaeng has said the decision to hold a massive rally in the town is meant to take the party to the people in a bid to explain its mandate and what it represents. "People mainly want to hear why we formed a new party and we are coming to do exactly that," he said.

He explained that the party has a programme of holding countrywide rallies. Already BMD has held rallies in Francistown, North West, Ghanzi, Southern District and Ramotswa. Morwaeng said the aim of the weekend rally is to officially introduce the party to Bobirwa, Mmadinare and Selebi-Phikwe (BOMASE) region. "It is an ongoing programme and all the party leaders and members from neighbouring regions will attend this national project," he said.
