By the end of this week it will be clear who between Education and Skills Development minister, Pelonomi Venson Moitoi and Patrick Balopi will be announced as the compromise chairperson to face Guma Moyo and his team at the July Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) elective congress for the ruling.

The Monitor is reliably informed that both the Balopi and the Venson-Moitoi camps have been urged by the voters to strike a compromise ahead of the congress and that the compromise talks have been ongoing for weeks. A well-placed source in the mediation for both Venson-Moitoi and Balopi camps told The Monitor that while the two camps have finalised the compromise lobby list, it is the chairperson's seat, which is still being discussed.  By the end of this week however it will be known as to whom between Venson-Moitoi and Balopi will be announced as the compromise chairperson.

The Monitor understands that as a result of the compromise between both camps, Phillip Makgalemele who has been running as the secretary-general on Venson-Moitoi's slate has stepped aside for Balopi's man, Isaac Seloko.  Both camps want to retain the incumbent deputy treasurer Kagiso Mmusi and treasurer Satar Dada. The compromise by both camps was broken on Facebook on Friday by Minister Venson- Moitoi herself when she seemed to boast to her rivals, announcing that all of Isaac Seloko's backing team has been received by her camp.
