Barely a week after a woman was attacked, robbed, and raped in Serowe, another woman was on Saturday night roused from sleep in an attack and was raped.

Confirming the case, No 2 District Officer Commanding, Senior Superintendent Paul Oketsang said the 42-year-old woman of Mhatshwa ward was roused from sleep in an attack and raped by a known 30-year-old man who is currently in police custody.

“Whilst the victim was asleep, the intruder used the window to gain entrance into the victim’s bedroom and demanded sex. Cases where women are attacked and raped whilst in their sleep are on the rise in Serowe and are a cause for concern,” Oketsang said. “Women are no longer free even in the comfort of their homes due to rapists causing havoc.
