Botswana Defence Force (BDF) on Wednesday staged a deeply emotional and symbolic farewell for its outgoing Commander, Lieutenant General Placid Segokgo, marking the end of an era as the military welcomed its new leader, General Mpho Mophuting.

From the misty dawn that settled over Sir Seretse Khama Barracks (SSKB) to the precision of ceremonial military rituals, the day was filled with tradition, pride, and raw emotion. Soldiers stood tall, but their eyes revealed gratitude and honour for the man who led them with discipline, dignity and distinction since 2019.

BDF camps are military camps, and there is a need for stricter rules and regulations to safeguard their operations as well as ensure the safety of civilians.
