Local musician, Vee Mampeezy is one artiste who has endured criticism the same way he has enjoyed success in the music scene. His newly released single featuring South African producer DJ Tira, shows that the pint-sized musician still has what it takes and is not ready to give up just yet, writes Mmegi Staffer GOITSEMODIMO KAELO.

There is no doubt that Vee Mampeezy is very talented. His success over the years makes him arguably Botswana’s biggest music artist. From his first album in 2002, Vee Mampeezy has demonstrated seriousness in his career to be where he is today. He has dished out hits after another in the years gone by which catapulted him to stardom. Notwithstanding his success over the years, Vee Mampeezy has in the recent past years also endured tough criticism from fans. Some sections felt that the Taku Taku hit maker no longer has what it takes to deliver goods. While others challenged him to go back to his original and old style, there was also a general feeling that maybe it is high time he considered retiring. They argued that he has lost his creative spark as such appealed to him to retire and stick to just producing.

But Vee Mampeezy has never let criticism go to his head and dampen his vision. He always found a way to reignite his music and get a fair share of the love from the music fans. He has always worked his socks off to pull one back when he has been written off completely. This was evidenced when he dropped hit songs such as Baba, then Siyazenzela with Dan Tshanda Sumuka ft Jah Prayzah and Dumalana ft Dr Tawanda. Just last year, Vee Mampeezy was at the receiving end of yet another criticism over the song he did with popular South African singer Makhadzi. The song titled Beke le Beke was one of the hits on Makhadzi’s album and it immediately caught the attention of the public. However, there was general opinion about Vee Mampeezy’s verse, as many people argued that he failed Makhadzi in the song. Many people were of the view that he nearly ruined a very good song. But Vee Mampeezy’s latest single released on Tuesday is already trending, a sign that it could turn out to be a hit. It has been over a long time since the Letlhale hitmaker got so much praise over his new music.

Congratulations Anicia Gaothuse!

The contest had 10 beautiful young girls as finalists and unfortunately only one could wear the crown. The judges picked Anicia Gaothuse. To all those who feel their contestant should have won ahead of Anicia for whatever reason, hardly; the judges found Anicia to be the best among the best, so desist from disrespecting our newly crowned queen on social media or anywhere else, for that matter! Each of the 10 beautiful young women had supporters...
