Local award-winning artist Samantha Mogwe has dropped her new single titled Oxygen. The songbird’s brand new offering, which features another award-winner Jordan Moozy, premiered on August 4.

The new offering is a gorgeous fusion of various cultures (Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe), which also highlights elements of Neo-Soul and Afro-Beats, the songbird said.

The song was written by Samantha Mogwe and Jordan Moozy while KD Bangers arranged and produced the single. According to a statement from Samantha Mogwe, her and Jordan Moozy have wanted to collaborate for years, going as far as recording some unreleased material, and finally choosing Oxygen for a release.

“The song looks at a sense of wonder and luster, a magical atmosphere that makes you feel goodness of some sort lurking in the air. It’s really a feel-good song that allows you to keep pushing forward, despite not seeing the fruits of your labour as yet,” she said. Further describing the song, Samantha Mogwe said it looks at focusing on wanting to soar, to inspire, to be exactly who you are meant to be and knowing that it is a powerful place to be in.

“Healing, feeling, breathing, oxygen...I know a new dawn begins...One day this will count for something, reaching greater heights. Praying I’ll reach the peek,” sings Samantha Mogwe in one of the verses.

Samantha Mogwe is a singer and songwriter who fuses elements of neo-soul and RnB in her craft. Born and raised in Botswana but often crossing into Zambia, where her mother is from, she embodies the spirit of using music as a tool to touch people across any divide.

She has performed on stages across Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, Ethiopia, Kenya and Sweden. Samantha Mogwe has shared the stage with well-known artists such as Anthony Hamilton, Zonke, Lira, Joe Thomas, Kenny Latimore, Micasa, Hugh Masekela, amongst others. She is a multifaceted artist, a wife, a mother, a radio presenter, a voice coach, a businesswoman and a fitness enthusiast.

She has won multiple awards including YAMAs, BOMU Award, and has been nominated for the AFRIMAs (Texas) and ZICOMO (Zambia) showing her ability to capture the hearts of different audiences. The songbird believes in and continues to encourage the African-rooted culture of collaborating.
