Miss Africa calls for designers

The Miss Africa Pageant is inviting established and upcoming designers who would like to showcase their works at the show to express interest.

“The designers that we are targeting are young entrepreneurs who have not had a foot in, in the market and or have not had exposure so that we may give them the platform,” Miss Africa CEO, Bruce Nkgakile said. The designers, who choose to be a part of the fashion and cultural show, and grand finale, will have a competition of their own.

“We shall be running a competition in which the designer who wins gets money and a tender to dress our queen at all times.

This we believe will elevate and expose the designer,” Nkgakile.

The competition will only be open to upcoming designers. Established designers, however, can still showcase during the shows.

Miss Africa is already working with designer, Gofa Sithole. Interested designers can get in touch with the Miss Africa team at [email protected]

The 41 models recently unveiled at Rail Park Mall are currently in a boot camp, in Gaborone. They will undergo different seminars such as leadership training, business and cultural empowerment. Some of the mentors include former state president, Sir Ketumile Masire.

During the fashion and cultural show there will be a special performance by South African traditional outfit Lady Smith Black Mambazo.

Tickets for the event are already up for sale at Web Tickets and at all Spar outlets.
