As the 72nd Miss World Festival draws to a close in Hyderabad, India, Botswana’s Anicia Gaothusi remains an active and committed contestant representing her nation on the global stage.

With the grand finale scheduled for May 31th, the past week saw the competition shift from fast-track challenges to a series of closed-door interviews, evaluations, and rehearsals all crucial in determining the final placements. One of the key highlights of the week was the conclusion of the Top Model Challenge. The competition, which tests contestant’s runway skills, confidence, and presentation, culminated with Czech Republic’s Justýna Zedníková winning the title. Although Gaothusi was not among the finalists for this event, her focus has remained firmly on the core pillars of the Miss World competition, including community impact and personal interviews.

Over the past days, Gaothusi participated in extensive personal interviews conducted by the Miss World judging panel. These private sessions are designed to assess each contestant’s character, ambitions, and understanding of their social impact initiatives. While the results for these interviews remain confidential until the official announcement, they are regarded as a significant factor influencing the judges’ final decisions. Additionally, Gaothusi has been involved in cultural exchange programs, a staple of the Miss World experience. These sessions encourage delegates from diverse backgrounds to interact, share cultural insights, and promote global understanding. Though informal and not scored, such interactions contribute to the overall impression contestants make on the organisers and peers. Another notable activity this week was Gaothusi’s participation in the filming of Miss World’s documentary series “Voices of Change.” This feature profiles contestants who have made meaningful contributions through their Beauty With A Purpose projects.
