The national Under-15 football team collected their first point in the Africa Youth Games yesterday against South Africa. The two sides played to a 1-1 in an exciting encounter played at UB Stadium.

The result is expected to lift the Young Zebras’ spirits after losing the first two games against Nigeria and Tanzania. Resaobaka Thatanyane scored an al important equaliser in the dying minutes of the game against South Africa to secure a point for the Young Zebras. South Africa had earlier taken the lead through Simphiwe Zwane.

While South Africa had the possession for most of the time, they failed to utilise it. Botswana had the first real scoring chance of the match in the first 10 minutes of the game. Thatanyane made a brilliant run on the right and managed to outpace his marker but his cross caught his striking partner, Ethan Colliop off guard. South African goalkeeper, Thembinkosi Sindane managed to save the situation for his side.
