Rola Kepese message could be misinterpreted

A recent study conducted by the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MoHW) has found that condom use amongst youth has dropped significantly since 2008 and the most affected are the youth in their early 20s. This is despite the fact that the country continues to record new HIV infections amongst the same age group.

The drop in condom use can be attributed to a number of factors such as inaccessibility, refusal by males to use it or so-called trust amongst couples.

The availability of free Anti Retroviral Therapy and Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission have also been identified as some of the contributing factors to low condom use.
