We would not have known had it not been for a team of international researchers who sounded the alarm, and one National geographic filmmaker with a passion for the Okavango, that our government has issued 41 mineral exploration licenses in the Okavango Delta alone.

Work has begun and companies have been investing their technology and financial resources on mineral explorations around the Okavango. The Okavango Delta has been shown to possess minable deposits of diamonds, uranium, iron ore, coal bed methane, as well as oil deposits, according to information unearthed by The Monitor.

The Projects Magazine today launched The Future of Mining Summit, set to become the country’s premier mining conference. The event is scheduled for 12th and 13th of June 2024, at Boipuso Hall, Fairgrounds in Gaborone.
