Pick N' Pay Teams Up With FNB For Easy Access To Banking

Pick n' Pay supermarket chain has teamed up with First National Bank (FNB) to provide customers with easy access to banking and a new shopping experience.

Under the initiative, Pick n' Pay stores will host an FNB kiosk as part of the supermarkets ambitious expansion plan. The venture presents a unique opportunity for FNB to increase its geographical foot-print nationally because Pick n' Pay has taken over Score Supermarkets in Botswana. Last week, the South Ring Mall Score Supermarket in Gaborone was converted to a Pick n' Pay store. The establishment of an FNB kiosk at Pick n' Pay is a new and more cost-effective sales channel that will increase the bank's profitable market share besides offering a more accessible and convenient method of banking at a supermarket. Under the deal between FNB and Pick n' Pay, banking hours are extended from 9am to 4pm and customers can apply for a car loan while shopping.

At the conversion of South Ring Mall Score, director of Pick n' Pay Africa, Frans van der Colff said underscored the importance of the partnership with FNB, saying it will go a long way in fostering sustainable socio-economic growth for the people. He hailed FNB for having trust in the Pick n' Pay. "I am proud that the new Pick n' Pay at the South Ring Mall is bringing a new experience of shopping closer to the community with the best prices that are affordable by the average people." He said that the process to settle on the franchise was not easy and he is confident that the new business owners will not fail consumers by offering quality services. Pick n' Pay Botswana CEO, Mahesh Patel said the convention of the business demonstrated their true spirit of ownership and the commitment to invest in places where they have operations. He said that it is the intention of Pick n' Pay to complement government strides in fostering citizen economic empowerment in line with the national goals and aspirations. Some local farmers have been identified to supply fresh farm produce to the Pick n' Pay supermarket in a deliberate agenda to empower local enterprises.
