iTowers to be extended beyond 26 floors

The ODE Group and Tredinnick, joint developers of the iTowers, are considering extending the project beyond the initial 26 floors. Unlike the first tower, which consists mainly of commercial space, the second tower will mainly consist of residential units. iTowers spokesman Batanani Nkhumisang said the management is yet to decide on the number of floors to be added.

"We are still waiting for confirmation from the management on how many floors will be added. This might probably be in two weeks time from now," he said."We saw a gap in the market which presented an opportunity to offer citizens a glimpse into the true benefits of city life. City life is about simplicity, convenience, productivity and sophistication. We wanted to ensure that we could cater for as many demands as possible, whilst condensing these demands into one development," said Nkhumisang. He emphasised that they wanted to share their vision of holistic, harmonious living with the local market. The second tower has residential units comprising studio, and one, two or three bedrooms.  Purchasers will have the option to live and work in their units. This will allow property novices to begin building their property investment portfolio. There is also an option to purchase a fully serviced unit. Qualifying buyers will be assisted with their purchase from the beginning to the end of the process.

"Botswana's economy is growing fast, and there's a high demand for living space in urban areas. But the process of buying property is intimidating, and we want to be there for our clients to make sure they achieve their goals," he said. The tallest building in the Central Business District (CBD) was, at one point, the Square Mart. When complete, the iTower will be twice the size of the Square Mart. The iTowers were built in two phases at a cost of P200 million each. The first phase of the building comprises 1500m2 of ground floor retail, 14 floors of offices, three floors of penthouses and a rooftop terrace. The project is being constructed by Murray and Roberts Botswana with 99 percent of the construction site employees representing Batswana. This will give pride to locals that they put up the first 26-storey building. This is unlike government projects where over 60 percent of contractors are imported from Asia.  Appleby's and Premier Projects will jointly handle sales for the second tower. When complete, the two towers will feature shops, restaurants and a gym to fully cater to their clients' lifestyle needs. The iTowers is the first of its kind in Botswana with retail, office and residential space spread across 26 floors. It is the tallest multi-purpose development in Botswana.
