Soul soothing Flying Home breaks new ground

An extraordinary piece of work by artist Bundulama's (real name Dzikamari Lekopanye) Flying Home album offers a whole new different sound from the usual Botswana music scene.

It is neither the usual Kwasa Kwasa, Kwaito nor Hip-Hop that most local artists have settled for.A debut album for the artist, Flying Home is bound to be a hit with people who are more in touch with their spiritual side and meditate once in a while. Fans of Enya and Flying Lotus, are more likely to fall head over heels in love with the album as its sounds are mellow with beats that induce a mind at peace above anything else. The nine-track album, which is yet to be released, infuses slow sounds with Bundulama's gentle voice taking control with the lyrics.

At some point in time one could mistake his vocals to singer John Legend. Flying Home, which has been in the making for three years, proves just how much taking one's time can pay off with a masterpiece project.  With some discernible effects on almost all the tracks, Flying Home is one of those albums one listens to relax the soul. The title of the album matches the tracks and indeed Bundulama has flown home with his music. In a brief interview with Showbiz, Bundulama said that his album - that he categorises as pop alternative - was inspired by his own life and background.  He said that when growing up he was exposed to the different music genres from classical to pop and rock.
