Miss Botswana auditions attract few participants

FRANCISTOWN: Few Miss Botswana aspirants turned up for the first session of the auditions for the coveted pageant held at Thapama Hotel in Francistown over the weekend.

The pageant organisers said they were disappointed with the response although the numbers had increased compared to last year. The next venues for scouting talent will be Palapye, Jwaneng, Maun, Selebi-Phikwe, Serowe and Gaborone. The final stop in the scouting will be held over two days in Gaborone. Thapelo Pabalinga, of 63 Entertainment, said the Francistown auditions might end up being the poorest as they expect to attract more participants in the other areas.

He said normally the participation in Francistown is lower as compared to other areas. "The reason people in Francistown don't come to auditions in large numbers is that they feel that people in Gaborone are far ahead of them," he said
