Trumpeter Moruakgomo Elected BOMU Chief

At long last, the Botswana Musicians Union (BOMU) has elected a next executive committee after the old committee was booted out some months ago.

However, this time there was calm and the meeting was conducted in an orderly fashion at the Botswana Craft Centre last Thursday.Renowned jazz trumpeter Socca Moruakgomo was elected new BOMU chairperson when he beat  Seabelo Modibe by 33-5 votes, while Alfred Mosimanegape was elected unopposed as his deputy. Modibe declined to contest the post of vice chairperson against Mosimanegape.Modibe consoled himself with the position of secretary  while Botswana Television (Btv) personality Joel Keitumile retained his post of public relations officer (PRO). 

 The post of treasurer went to Letsweletse Moshabi.    The additional members are promoter  Zenzele Hirschfelt, Ndingo Johwa and Mponang "Gong master" Ketshabile.  Hirschfelt had served on the old committee, which was kicked out. The committee has been tasked with reviewing the constitution.
