FC Satmos is a football team with a great ambition of turning into a formidable commercial club.

The club is popularly known as the Cheetahs (Matotse) and is based in the mining town of Selibe Phikwe. It was formerly called Copper Chiefs and changed to FC Satmos in 1996 after it was agreed that the team be named after the former Zebras goal minder, the late Samuel Sono who was by then the sole sponsor of Copper Chiefs. 

The team’s name was derived from the Late Samuel Thotogelo Molati Sono (SATMOS). The club turned professional in 1997 and its motto is ‘Youth Development and Professionalism’.
