TLOKWENG: Township Rollers continued their impressive start to the league campaign by totally annihilating Holy Ghost by five goals.

Rollers head coach, Innocent Morapedi, hailed Segolame Boy as man of the performance for the game. Boy, who is also having an impressive start to the season, received his flowers from Morapedi after bagging a brace and an assist at Royal Aria stadium this past weekend.

Morapedi said he is impressed with how Boy upped his game after the talk they had prior to the start of the season. “I had a one-on-one chat with him and I asked him what is wrong because he had not been performing well for some time.

He said nothing. I then asked him to improve on his game because the years are running out and it is not for him not winning any silverware in his prime time, but he needs to enjoy it,” revealed Morapedi. Additionally, Morapedi stated that he is not putting Boy under any pressure but wants to see him enjoying his game whether he scores a goal or not.

With Rollers still retaining their top spot after Jwaneng Galaxy suffered a defeat from new rookies Matebele, Morapedi echoed that his focus is only on him and Rollers, not how other teams perform. “Growing up, I was taught not to eat from our neighbours so we do not play thinking about Galaxy. If they dropped points, hard luck to them.

Meanwhile, we are lucky we have picked up maximum points and this is a marathon, a lot can happen,” he said. Rollers, who are yet to taste a defeat this season, did not take long in the game to draw first blood as Boy broke the deadlock as early as the third minute. Boy found the back of net with a powerful header which beat goalkeeper, Katlego Mbise to give Popa an early lead. Mogakolodi Ngele came close to putting his name on the score sheet but his effort went over the bar narrowly.

Thirteen minutes later, after getting his first goal, Boy grabbed his second to increase the lead. Motsholetsi Sikele delivered a scintillating cross inside the box, which Ngele hit first time but Mbise parried it on the way of Boy who easily converted it.

Holy Ghost were out of their depth as Rollers continued to bulldoze them in all areas. Right wing back, Sikele, cut in yet again and laid a cross inside the box but Marcel Papama’s effort went wide. After missing a couple of chances, Ngele’s efforts finally paid dividends as he bagged the third goal for Rollers by putting the ball over on-coming Mbise.

In the 62nd minute, Boy continued with his heroic display as he beautifully set up Godfrey Tauyatswala who capitalised on the opportunity through a powerful header to put Rollers up by four goals. Substitute Thabo Rakhale’s powerful shot came off the back of defender, Onalethata Obopile as Popa put the final nail in Ghost’s coffin with a fifth goal.
