Mmegi sports journalist gets global recognition

Mmegi sport editor, Mqondisi Dube received recognition during the recent International Sports Press Association (AIPS) awards held in Lausanne, Switzerland. Dube's article, 'An Olympian lost to culture' was voted among Africa's top 10 best articles under the 'Writing Best Colour Piece' category. Dube's article focused on Olympian weightlifter, Magdalene Moyengwa who despite reaching the top in Africa was forced to quit the sport due to cultural practice. In 2021, Moyengwa became the first local woman weightlifter to qualify for the Olympics. The annual AIPS awards attracted nearly 2,000 entries from across the world.

Don't let FMD outbreak drag on
