AT THE SUMMIT: First Division South log leaders, Police XI PIC PHATSIMO KAPENG

With torrential rains washing away three First Division South fixtures this past weekend, Police XI took advantage and moved to the summit of the league table following a 3-0 win over Holy Ghost.

Both sides relegated from the Premier League last season. Ahead of the weekend, Tlokweng United were sitting at the top of the log standings and were scheduled to face Prisons XI on Saturday at the SSG ground. However, the ground was deemed unplayable together with the Siga ground in Ramotswa, which was scheduled to host Magosi FC and Sand Diamonds as well as Be Free Park, which was to host Taung Young Strikers and Notwane. The games will be scheduled to a later date. Police XI has since opened a three-point lead at the top after 11 round of matches played.

Before the past weekend, they were sitting at position two with the same number of points with Tlokweng United with the latter having a superior goal difference. Jwaneng Young Stars remain seated at position three despite going down 1-0 away to Desert Nxau. It was the home side’s first victory of the season after 10 round of matches played. For Young Stars, who were crowned champions last season but sold their Premier League status, the weekend’s loss was their third this season. They are currently three points behind log leaders. Desert Nxau, on the other hand, moved from position 12 to position 11, thanks to their superior goal difference, which saw Holy Ghost moved to the bottom of the log. City Polar moved one place up the ladder after beating UB Hawks by a solitary goal on Friday at the BPSC stadium.
