Before the clash, Lions were sitting dangerously in the red zone in the bottom three of the log standings. The weekend victory pushed them one spot up, leapfrogging Extension Gunners for the 13th position.

Lions beat Stars 2-1 on Saturday afternoon in a game played at VTM Arena.

Lions have now collected 24 points from 27 games with three rounds of matches still to play. Stars on the other hand are still languishing at the bottom of the table with 18 points from 27 games.
