Welcome back home Champ!
Welcome back home Champ!

A hero’s welcome has been planned for sprint star, Letsile Tebogo who arrives home this afternoon.

The athlete will be home for the first time since winning two medals at the World Championships in Budapest last month and also competing in the Diamond League final over the weekend in Oregon, Eugene. Tebogo is with teammate, Leungo Scotch and coach, Kebonyemodisa Dose Mosimanyane and the trio will touch down at 14:25 hrs. The celebration follows a successful campaign at the World Athletics Championships where Tebogo won a silver medal in the 100m and a bronze in the 200m dash. The performance saw Botswana finish in position 26 from the 200 nations that had descended on Budapest for the competition.

Tshepiso Masalela qualifying for the 800m men’s final also added gloss to the country's final ranking. Botswana improved from Oregon 22 where they finished in position 51. Upon arrival, Tebogo, Scotch and Mosimanyane will be joined by the rest of the team at the Sir Seretse Khama International Airport. Botswana Athletics Association (BAA) president, Moses Bantsi and Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) board chairperson, Botsang Tshenyego will make some remarks at the airport.
