As the countdown towards World Athletics Relays continues, 200m Olympic champion, Letsile Tebogo has sent a warning to the American team.
Botswana's 4x400m relay team holds the world title after winning gold at last year's World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. Gaborone will host the 2026 edition of the World Relays and Tebogo has thrown a challenge to the United States. "We do not need the hype when we have the heart. Tell the US to bring their fastest, they are still going to be looking at our back numbers," he said through his X social media account.
Tebogo was part of the men's 4x400m relay team that beat America to a gold medal in Tokyo. He ran an exceptionally fast leg, with reports citing times around 43.72 seconds, crucial for winning. The team also had Bhekempilo Lee Eppie, Bayapo Ndori and Busang Collen Kebinatshipi. Botswana will become the first African country to host the World Athletics Relays from May 2 to 3 at the National Stadium.
