The Clash of Legends committee has kept its promise by giving out some of the money raised during the historic Clash of Legends between the Zebras legends of 2012 and Bafana Bafana.

An amount of P105 000 was distributed to three deserving candidates. The organising team had stated that the event was hosted as a strategy to look out for the legends who have donned the beautiful blue, black and white stripes of Botswana proudly and represented the country well but now cannot do anything for themselves past retirement. Now that the tie between the legends took place without noticeable hiccups, the organising team on Friday fulfilled its promise by giving out cheques to three legends namely, Malepa ‘Chipa’ Bolelang, Moemedi ‘Jomo’ Motlhaping and Mosimanegape ‘Twizer’ Ramohibidu. All the three legends who were chosen to be the beneficiaries of the great milestone walked away with a whooping P35,000 each.

For their part, the three legends showed immense gratitude adding that their lives past football was not really a good sight to see. “We really want to thank God for everything that has been done for us by the organisers. We hope we can use this money for something useful,” Ramohibidu said. ‘Twizer’ said the gesture will go a long way if they put the money to good use looking where they come from. “Our lives were not really good before this and for this we will eternally remain indebted to them for what they have really done for us when no one did anything for us,” Ramohibidu stated. Ramohibidu also said in the next edition of Clash of Legends slated for next year, the organising team should take into consideration other players. “We are not the only three that have contributed to this nation.

Even the Ombudsman has confirmed receipt of a report from a political party and a review of these complaints is now underway. That is a necessary first step. But it is only the beginning. The seriousness of the allegations demands urgency, transparency and clarity. The public is entitled to...
