Police in Maun are investigating a gruesome murder and an attempted murder.
The incident involves a 44-year-old ex-boyfriend who is alleged to have killed his 41-year-old ex-girlfriend and injured a 29-year-old man.
The prime suspect in the two offences, the ex-boyfriend to the deceased woman, has since been arrested and is currently hospitalised under heavy police guard.
This was confirmed to MmegiOnline by Maun Police Station commander, Joseph Lepodise citing that the tragedy unfolded in the wee hours of Wednesday morning. “We are investigating a murder case and an attempted murder where two people are involved, a 41-year-old woman who lost her life and a 29-year-old man severely injured,” he said. Lepodise through an interview with MmegiOnline stated that they received a report at 2am alerting them of an unfortunate scene. “A 44-year-old woman called us in the morning, telling us that two people are lying inside a house in a pool of blood. When we arrived, medical personnel were called to the crime scene,” he said. Unfortunately for the woman, one of the victims, Lepodise revealed that she was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Letsholathebe Memorial Hospital whilst the 29-year-old is fighting for his life at the hospital. “We followed a trail that led us to a man believed to be the ex-boyfriend of the deceased and we apprehended him. When we arrested him, he complained of an upset stomach and he is now in the hospital. But he is under an escort of police officers,” Lepodise said. Despite the suspect in the matter being hospitalised, Lepodise stated that investigations are still ongoing with the post-mortem report already underway.
