Under-19 girls impress in cricket tourney

The Botswana Under-19 girls' cricket side showed glimpses of where the future lies with a valiant effort which saw them finish second in a four nations tournament over the weekend.

The youngsters were just behind Zimbabwean side, MidWest Rhinos, finishing the tournament with two wins and one defeat. The Zimbabwe team were the eventual winners triumphing in all their three games. The tournament, held at the Botswana Cricket Association (BCA) Oval also featured Namibia and Swaziland national teams.

The Swazis, not known much as a cricketing nation predictably finished winless and anchored the group while Namibia were third with just one win. Botswana started the tournament with a strong message as they scored a massive 280 run victory over whipping girls, Swaziland. The match of the tournament was always going to be between MidWest Rhinos and the hosts.
