The game is part of preparations for the Junior Men's International Softball Federation (ISF) World Championships billed for Canada from June 20-30. Besides the friendly against South Africa, the Botswana juniors will play another build-up match against their senior brothers over the weekend.

The Botswana Softball Association (BSA) president Marumo Morule said that though they have not had enough, they have tried their best to give the boys training. He explained that the players do not have much exposure. However, he added that everything is in place and the team is expected to leave for Canada on Wednesday next week.
