SELEBI-PHIKWE: The long reign of Tebro Onkabetse as the Selebi-Phikwe Botswana Football Association (BFA) regional chairperson has come to an end.

Onkabetse was ousted by former national player, Mike Molefe in elections held at Bosele Hotel last week. The ascendancy of Molefe to the top post is seen as a plus for BFA president, Phillip Makgalemele over his rival and predecessor, David Fani. Molefe is a Makgalemele ally while Onkabetse is said to an ally of Fani. After his election, Molefe immediately produced a roadmap for his first term in office. Top on his list of priorities is harnessing the benefits of the 2010 World Cup.

He believes he has what it takes to move Selebi- Phikwe regional football forward. Molefe said he knew before the elections that change was inevitable. "My confidence in tackling Tebro is that I have been in football for a long time. I have played at the highest level and managed Notwane during its heydays. I have no doubt about my capabilities," Molefe said.
