Marathon athletes are expected to invade Mmadinare on Christmas Day
Maswabi said this on Friday ahead of the 27th instalment of the race scheduled for December 25 in Mmadinare. He revealed new financial sponsors being the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development (MYESCD), Bamangwato Motors and African Alliance who have donated P32,000, P10,000 and P6,000 respectively.
The new sponsors join Mascom who have increased their sponsorship amount to P35,000 from last year’s P10,000. “Through the assistance of these sponsors we have managed to reach our target of P71,045 which will be the total sponsorship for this year’s race and it is an immense improvement from last year’s P32,000,” he said. Maswabi further indicated that they have improved the race to make it a wellness activity for everyone, highlighting that they have included new fun categories being sack race, bucket race, bicycle race as well as egg race, among others.
