Maposa commits to GU

Gaborone United (GU) supporters will be relieved to learn that their number one goalkeeper, Noah Maposa is staying put after being linked with a return to national champions, Mochudi Centre Chiefs.

"We had a meeting with him this week and we talked about Chiefs' interest in him. We asked whether he was aware and willing to go, but he assured us that he is not interested in moving that side," GU secretary, Herbert Letsebe told Mmegi Sport yesterday. Noah joined GU two years ago from Chiefs in a move that shocked many Magosi supporters. He had been with Chiefs since his early football years.

Recently Chiefs wrote to GU seeking permission to speak to the player and hit a brick wall, according to Letsebe.Chiefs are reported to have been willing to buy him out of contract. "We told them that he is not for sale.We had shown interest in their two players, Elvis Meleka and Lesego Galenamotlhale, and they also told us that they were not for sale," he said.  He denied reports that they had put a half-a-million price tag on him. "That is not true. Of course the player is at the beginning of his three-year contract, which started this month. It is worth around P550, 000 but we never told anyone that we would sell him for P500, 000. He is not for sale and we have told Chiefs just that," Letsebe added.

We are still broke from that experience. Yet now, with FMD...
