ICC axe spurs Africa cricket body into action

Stung by the International Cricket Council's (ICC) decision to scrap divisions Seven and Eight, the Africa Cricket Association (ACA) will convene in Durban, South Africa, this weekend to draw a raft of measures meant to cushion the impact.

ICC recently announced a decision to scrap the two divisions, which saw 10 teams, among them Botswana, face a lengthy period on the sidelines. Only two teams were promoted to Division Six, which will now be the bottom tier in ICC's development structure.

Botswana were to remain in Division Seven, but the new ICC ruling means they drop to their zone,Africa. It triggers a tight fight to gain promotion to Division Six, which will be now tougher with the entry of other opponents from other zones.
