Budget cut has hampered the Botswana Hockey Association (BHA) plans after the Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) released only P180,000 for the 2016/2017 financial year. BHA president, Unaswi Matebu told Mmegi Sport yesterday that the funds are insufficient, which they cannot even think about competing in international competitions.

“It is a tough one because when you approach potential sponsors it is better when you have something to fall back on instead of being empty handed,” said Matebu.

Meanwhile, BHA has since refunded members of the boys team that took part in the African Hockey Championship in Namibia.
