LOBATSE: Botswana beat Ghana by three wickets in the opening game of the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division Seven in Lobatse on Saturday.

Botswana won the toss and elected to field. Ghana scored 128 runs all out in 36 overs with the impressive Isaac Abogye lacking partners to stay the course.

Botswana started badly with vice captain Karabo Motlhanka and captain Karabo Modise at the crease. At lunch break, the team had managed to score 22 for three in eight overs. The experienced and youthful players, Denzil Sequeira and Waseem Tajbhay brought more energy to the game and changed the proceedings. The duo silenced the cheering Ghanaian fans with some impressive batting. Tajbhay got 35 runs, ably assisted by Faisal Rasheed with 28.
