It will always be recorded in the annals of history that on 4 November 2008, America elected its first African American president.

By every standard Barack Obama's achievement is incredible. On the way to winning the presidential election, he broke several records. He raised more money and from more people than anyone in the history of American politics. He was engaged in the longest campaign trail in history. He became the first person of colour to win a nomination to contest the presidential election.

The question that we ought to ask is what lessons can we learn from Barack's success?
Before we endeavour to answer that question, it is important to underline a few things about success. In every field of human endeavour, success leaves footprints in the sand. Success does not go quietly. It leaves a trail that other people can see, and follow and achieve similar successes. To a large extent, success can be made possible by studying the lives and methods and ways of successful people and then following in their foot steps.
