A 34-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her boyfriend in Serowe amidst the observation of the16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

The deceased’s 33-year-old boyfriend has been arrested after he allegedly stabbed her with a sharp object on her shoulder over cheating suspicions at a local bar in Mathodi ward, Serowe on Saturday night. No2 Police District Officer Commanding, Paul Oketsang said it is alleged that the couple was involved in a misunderstanding related to suspicion over cheating before the incident. He stated that the deceased was rushed to Sekgoma Memorial Hospital where she was certified dead on arrival by the doctors.

“The suspect, currently in police custody, was arrested the same night and will today or tomorrow appear before Serowe Magistrate Court to face a single count of murder. The upsurge in murder cases as a result of 'a misunderstanding' between intimate partners remains a concern,” Oketsang said.
