MAUN: Crimen injuria is a crime under South African common law, defined to be the act of ‘unlawfully, intentionally and seriously impairing the dignity of another’. But, it appears South African nationals working in the tourism sector in Botswana are notorious for committing crimen injuria in Botswana by subjecting locals to hate speech such as calling them ‘kaffirs.’

Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Edwin Batshu warned when addressing tourism workers in Maun today (Monday) that any foreign national who uses the F-word or kaffirs when addressing Batswana working in the tourism sector will be deported.
