US Army sparks quarrel between BDF and DIS

A quarrel has broken out between Botswana Defence Force (BDF) and the Directorate of Intelligence and Security (DIS) over use of two ravens 'bequeathed' to Botswana by the US Army on conclusion of Southern Accord 12, the recent war games mounted by the two militaries.

The ravens were part of equipment used in the training of military intelligence instructors during the joint military exercises that ended last week.

While sources within the DIS acknowledges that the ravens were left behind for BDF Intelligence, it is concerned that their use could compromise the security of Botswana because the Americans can read everything by satellite every time the machines are used.
