UB Professor impresses with debut novel

Businessman and former cabinet minister, David Magang has lamented that Batswana do not give their heroes due recognition.

He said Batswana are not good at creating and sustaining their heroes though they religiously pay homage to foreign heroes. The former minister was speaking last Thursday at the launch of a novel written by Professor John Makgala of the University of Botswana entitled 'The Dixie Medicine Man'.

Referring to the novel as one of the finest pieces of literary works ever produced in Botswana, he stated that it is a great pity that people who produce outstanding works, such as Makgala, do not quite get the recognition and praise they deserve in the country.
