Truck driver dies in road mishap

A 47-year-old truck driver died following a collision between his truck and another truck at Radisele along the A1 highway on Sunday morning.

Confirming the accident investigation, Superintendent Molly Lebala-Moduke, the commander of Palapye police station, stated that the accident occurred at around 4am.

She mentioned that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the head-on collision. "The truck driver was rushed to Palapye Hospital where he was certified dead on arrival by the doctors. Meanwhile, another truck driver escaped the accident without injuries. Both trucks had only drivers on board," she said. Meanwhile, Thapelo Manxoba, 25, of Selolwane ward in Tutume, was arraigned on Monday for the murder of his 17-year-old girlfriend and the mother of his two-year-old son before the Palapye Magistrates Court. Superintendent Lebala-Moduke, the commander of Palapye police station, mentioned that the suspect's girlfriend was laid to rest on Sunday in Serowe. The suspect will appear before the court again on July 9 for mention. Manxoba allegedly killed his baby's mother last Wednesday at Bolelantokwe cattle post where he is working as a herder. On the fateful day, he had phoned the police, informing them of his intention to harm his girlfriend and then switched off his phone.
