Tonota police investigate death of a healer

FRANCISTOWN: The Tonota community is reeling in shock following the apparent murder of a woman, allegedly by her lover, who is in police custody as a suspect. The man was arrested in Mogoditshane.

Details are sketchy, but it is believed the 32-year old woman, whose name is still withheld by the police, must have met her death last weekend. Police say a wound or wounds on the woman's body, from which she must have died, are consistent with the use of a sharp instrument, possibly a knife.

The arrest of the suspect put to rest fears that he may have committed suicide, as he could not be found immediately after the discovery of the woman's body. Tonota Police Station commander, Superintendent Reuben Mphoeng, was cautious with details surrounding the case, saying investigations were still in early stages.
