Talana Farms' Boss Did Not Know Mzwinila

TALANA FARMS: Talana Farms manager, Jannie Wilhemsa has said he did not know that former MP, Michael Mzwinila was a politician when he called to ask for employment for Tonota people.

He said the politician approached him at a time when the farm's attempts to hire labourers from neighbouring villages had failed.

He said residents of neighbouring villages were not willing to work in the farm and he resorted to hiring Zimbabweans. He said the residents did not want to stay on the farm and this would have forced the management to transport them to and from work daily.
He said  after he spoke to Mzwinila, the politician hired a bus that transported Tonota people to work. Some of the people who came with the first bus returned to Tonota when the second bus sent by the MP came saying there is too much work at the farm.
Wilhemsa said Mzwinila gave him a letter introducing his Tsholofelo Development Trust. "What made me suspicious was that the colours used in the logo that also has Mzwinila's picture were the same as those of Botswana National Front (BNF) and secondly he came with his car with loud speakers on top and BNF stickers. That was when I realised that there was a problem," he said.
