Systematic land registration starts in Hukuntsi Sub Land Board

HUKUNTSI: The Ministry of Lands and Housing deputy permanent secretary responsible for Land Management has implored teams that will be surveying and mapping plots in villages falling under Hukuntsi Sub Land Board to be humble when working with communities.

Maotoanong Sebina was addressing the teams that have been pulled from the different Land Boards across the country to assist Kgalagadi Land Board in surveying and mapping all plots in Tshane, Hukuntsi, Lokgwabe and Lehututu from June to July 2013.He said the teams will be acting as the MLH ambassadors and therefore must work with the communities with humility and assist with spirit of botho. This is part of the exercise being undertaken by the Ministry of Lands and Housing through all the Land Boards to systematically register all allocated plots in the country to have information on who owns what, where and for what purposes.

"The Government has looked at the challenges that this country is facing, things that have worked for the country in the past, opportunities currently available like available technology and cooperating with partners and came up with the project called LAPCAS," Sebina said stating that LAPCAS is the Improvement of Land Administration Procedures, Capacity and Systems in Botswana.
