Kitso Mokonopi further remanded in custody
Mokonopi appeared before court for first time since giving birth. State prosecutor, Botho Gobuamang told the court that they needed a bit more time for the investigations team to conclude their work. The state prosecutor also said that they are yet to receive feedback from the forensic lab. "We are still awaiting to hear from the forensics and get a report from them so we request two months to give the investigations officer enough time,” pleaded the prosecutor.
Mokonopi faces a single count of murder after she allegedly took the life of her boyfriend Mompati Keatlhotswe last year July at their rented house in Block 8, Gaborone. She allegedly stabbed Keatlhotswe with a sharp object and the latter bled to death.
Delivering her order, the presiding Magistrate Tshepo Thedi granted the state its wishes. “The court orders that the accused should remain on bail while the prosecution concludes investigations," said the Magistrate. Mokonopi returns to court on April 4, 2024.
