Split local authorities union registers

Some disgruntled former members of Botswana Land Boards, Local Authorities and Health Workers Union (BLLAHWU) have managed to register a new trade union called the Botswana Progressive Workers Union (BPWU).

They were granted usage of the name by the registrar of trade unions and employer’s organisation on July 5.

The new union was formed after a meeting held on June 25, 2016 in Palapye where BLLAHWU disgruntled members met and took the resolution. The interim president, Motelebane Motelebane, yesterday confirmed to this publication that they have been given the name.
