A Botswana Defence Force (BDF) soldier of the rank of Lance Corporal based at Thebephatshwa Air Base has been arrested after he allegedly threatened to kill his girlfriend on Sunday.

It is said that when returning home, the 33-year-old soldier found his girlfriend wasn't home, had taken all of her clothes, and he started calling and threatening to kill her. Lekgwapheng Police Station commander, Superintendent Mothosera Busang, confirmed they were investigating the matter. He stated they have indeed established that threatening words were used against the 28-year-old complainant. "We received the report of the matter on Sunday early morning around 2am from the victim. When talking to the victim, the accused person said, 'Leha o tsere dilwana ke tlo go go bolaya'. We have since arrested him and charged him with threat-to-kill," Busang said.
