Man charged with possession of uncut diamonds

A 32-year-old man, Maatla Matlhare, has appeared before the Village Magistrate Court facing a charge of unlawful possession of rough or uncut diamonds.

Matlhare is alleged to have been found in possession of the diamonds on or about March 12, 2026, at Doppio Zero. According to the charge sheet, he was not authorised or exempt in any manner to possess the precious stones.

The state alleges that the diamonds weighed a combined 3.17 carats and are valued at P7,490.65.
